Steel Technology
Laboratories and Workshops:
The department has well-equipped laboratories and workshops. The Mech. Testing Laboratory is equipped with 40T
Universal Testing machine, Impact Testing Machine, Rockwell, Brinell
and Vickers Hardness Testing Machines. Metallography laboratory comprises of optical microscopes and
macroscopic observation facility. The Non-destructive Testing
Laboratory is equipped with Ultrasonic Testing Machine,
Magnetic Particle Inspection and Dye Penetrant Testing for
flaw detection.

The
Welding Technology Workshop comprises of a wide range of
modern welding equipment such as Transformer, Rectifier, TIG,
MIG, SAW, Plasma Cutting, Inverter and Gas Welding equipment.
Computer Facility:
The institute provides Pentium
IV workstations and Pentium III servers connected to on-line
UPS. There are around 30 computers connected in a
LAN
(Local Area Network). Students are provided broadband internet
facility to access the
sea of knowledge out there. The students are trained to keep
up with the fast pace
of the modern way of
conducting business. The students are taught about the
importance of IT in today’s business. Students are made to use
Electronic Media and Information Technology extensively. The
Institute provides all the necessary infrastructure (Both
Hardware and Software) to facilitate the students to learn and
use the power of IT in Plant Management so as to maximize
output and minimize cost.
Library:
Within a short span of time
the Institute has developed a very good library. Now, the
Institute can boast of its library comprising of rare and
valuable collection of books in the field of Metallurgical and
Materials Engineering, Welding & Fabrication Technology,
Computer Engineering and Information Technology. The library
is also a regular subscriber of important journals and
magazines in the relevant field of interests of Indian and
foreign origin. The students can have access to the internet
facilities for web-based information. |
